Across the Isles: Favorite UK Adventures from Summer 2025

Every traveler brings home a different highlight, and that’s what makes travel so memorable. This summer, several Castaway clients headed across the United Kingdom and Ireland, with itineraries that blended guided experiences, countryside charm, and plenty of time to explore at their own pace.

From scenic drives along the coast to standing on the windswept cliffs of a Gaelic island, here are a few favorite moments from their summer adventures across England, Scotland, and Ireland.

Bath, England: Storybook Streets and Historic Elegance

The Mayes family kicked off their UK adventure with a week in London, balancing iconic city sights with relaxed time to wander. One of the highlights of their trip was a full-day excursion to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath. Known for its Georgian architecture, Roman baths, and peaceful scenery, Bath stood out as the most charming stop of the journey.

Favorite Experience: They especially loved the scenery in Bath, which felt quaint, peaceful, and completely different from the bustle of the city.

Aran Islands, Ireland: Remote Beauty and Gaelic Culture

London, Edinburgh, and Beatles history—one epic UK itinerary.

The Smith family spent ten days exploring England, Ireland, and Scotland. From city strolls to castle tours, their itinerary was filled with immersive experiences, but nothing compared to their day on the Aran Islands. Located off Ireland’s west coast, these islands offered a glimpse of traditional Irish life, complete with sweeping cliffs, stone walls, and timeless charm.

Favorite Experience: The peaceful beauty and traditional character of the Aran Islands made this day their most memorable.

Shannon Region, Ireland: Castles, Coastlines, and a Private Driver

Private driver adventures, pub stops, castle strolls, and a touch of wild in the UK.

For the Ryan family, comfort and flexibility were top priorities, and having a private driver made all the difference. Traveling through Ireland with a local guide gave them the freedom to explore iconic sites like the Cliffs of Moher and the Rock of Cashel without the stress of planning. Cheering on K State Football in Dublin was definitely a memory to remember! From there, they wrapped up their journey with several days in London, combining cultural highlights with time to take it all in.

Favorite Experience: Their private driver created a relaxed and personalized experience that allowed them to see more of Ireland at their own pace.

Edinburgh and the St. Cuthbert’s Way

Before setting out on a walking pilgrimage along the historic St. Cuthbert’s Way, three friends began their adventure in Edinburgh with a Castaway-curated itinerary. From elegant accommodations in the heart of Old Town to immersive walking tours and an Outlander day trip, every moment was filled with culture, history, and connection.

Favorite Experience: Exploring Edinburgh’s charming streets on foot was a highlight, especially the Outlander tour and the Royal Mile walking tour. But the most memorable moment? Walking from Melrose to the Holy Island on St. Cuthbert’s Way—a journey that turned into something truly life-changing.

London, England: Coming This Winter with Blue Springs South 🎄

London shines during the holidays with twinkling lights and double-decker buses.

As we wrap up our summer series, we’re also looking ahead to a special December trip. Blue Springs South choir and band students will travel to London this winter to perform in a holiday concert and take part in the London New Year’s Day Parade.

While we’re not traveling with the group, our family will be there too... and we’d love to help other families plan a “travel alongside” version of the trip. Whether you want to mirror the student itinerary or add a few festive extras, we can help make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
